Day Invitations
Invitations are usually sent out about six weeks before the date of the wedding although, if you have guests coming from abroad or your wedding is on a national holiday, you may wish to give more notice. Couples and young children can be included on one invitation. If you need the response by a particular date, this should be included.
These invitations will cover the actual ceremony and the reception immediately following. If your guests will also be welcome at an evening reception, you should mention this. If you would like guests to be present at the ceremony but are unable to have them at the reception immediately afterwards, it is better to invite them to your evening reception (see Evening Invitations) and on that invitation mention that they will be welcome to attend the marriage ceremony.
Allow a few more than your actual guest list to cover possible errors or last-minute additions. You may also want to retain a copy as a keepsake.
Evening Invitations
Evening Invitations cover any reception or celebration other than that immediately following the ceremony. The wording can be similar to that used for the main invitations or more informal, as required. If circumstances make it possible for your evening guests to attend the ceremony and you would like this to happen, you can give the time, place etc. on the evening invitation.
Additional information such as travelling or accommodation details etc. can be sent out with the invitations where necessary. Please ask for details.
